The BEARCAT® Ultralight Plate Carrier, a new, well-fitting, ultra-lightweight, and mission-tailorable Plate Carrier from Direct Action. The Bearcat is designed to be fully tailorable and versatile, but with a main platform that weighs only 290 grams.

Although the Bearcat is designed mainly with Swimmer Cut plates in mind, it will also fit SAPI or Shooter plates. Due to the use of highly stretchable softshell fabric, the plate carrier offers great fitting, no matter what kind of plate cut you choose. The inner velour Velcro® panels are also specifically designed to work well with the COMFORT PAD system of the Spitfire® Plate Carrier.

Other Spitfire accessories, like the CUTAWAY set, flaps and back panels also work well with the Bearcat. That makes this carrier a great choice for those who already have the elements of Spitfire® System, but seek for a lighter platform. DRAGON EGG ENLARGED BACKPACK® – from Direct Action

The original Dragon Egg® backpack from Direct Action has consistently been one of the company’s best-selling products and has found a home among a wide variety of users – from commuters and hikers, to first responders, law enforcement tactical teams, and military special operations forces.

This new 30-litre capacity version should prove very capable for everyday use as well as being a good 3-day sized patrol pack. Like its predecessor, the Dragon Egg Enlarged® is made from a combination of Cordura® 500D nylon and laser cut laminate.

The main internal compartment features a zippered mesh pocket for small items, and the front compartment includes an internal organizer system for conveniently carrying and locating small tools, personal equipment, and cell phones or radios. The pack also features a back pocket that is padded with protective foam for safely carrying tablets or laptops (up to 15″ size). On the sides are pockets for water bottles or other items that you might want to have quick and easy access too. The pack also features two hydration system pockets to choose from – one internal and one external.

IWA – Two New Patterns Join PenCott Camo Family Of Patterns: Wildwood And MetroPolis

Helikon-Tex showcased two new PenCott camouflage patterns, WildWood® and MetroPolis®, at IWA 2017.

WildWood® was developed at the request of Polish Special Forces, through a deep collaboration between Hyde Definition and Helikon-Tex. It is optimized for the moderate climate woodland areas of Central and Eastern Europe and was created by adjusting the tonal values of GreenZone® by adding more brown shades, and de-saturating the bright green.  WildWood® is also compatible with GreenZone® clothing and gear – making it ideal for users who’ve already invested in GreenZone®. WildWood® pattern garments and gear will be available exclusively through Helikon-Tex.

The overall tone of MetroPolis® is lighter than many other ‘urban’ patterns because lighter colors darken in low light levels, but still maintain disruption and blending performance. Patterns which use predominantly dark colors tend to ‘blob out’ under low light conditions, which lessens their performance. The pattern’s unique color palette was derived from an extensive analysis of scientific research by NATO and the US military forces.  MetroPolis® is the result of 5 years of development effort by Hyde Definition Ltd.

  • 3-in-1 / 360° pattern geometry: the inclusion of large, medium and small fractal shapes makes the patterns effective at close, mid, and long range – and, because of its non-linear orientation, the full effectiveness of the pattern is retained whether the wearer is standing, kneeling or prone, within cover or in the open.
  • Depth + Blending + Disruption: the combination of multi-sized fractal shapes, high-difference boundary layers and a hypoacuitively dithered micro-pattern creates the illusion of depth, whilst also creating a pattern that both blends into the terrain and disrupts the shape of the wearer.
  • Natural tones and textures: the complex organic pattern texture, combined with colors sampled from the target environments, delivers superior disruption and blending across a wider range of terrain and distances than other patterns.

UF PRO® – Monsoon Rain Shirt®

UF PRO® has introduced a new addition to their Monsoon waterproof range – the new Monsoon Rain Shirt® .

The lightweight, low bulk Monsoon Rain Shirt® from UF PRO® is specifically designed to be worn underneath a plate carrier, chest rig or other load-bearing gear. It’s made out of a special laminate mix, which makes the jacket thin, breathable and lightweight where it is covered with gear and very robust and extra durable wherever it is not.

Exposed areas, like shoulders, lower back and sleeves are made out of a robust and durable 3-layer laminate. The rest of the jacket is made out of an extremely lightweight and low bulk 2.5-layer laminate. Both laminates are based on a super breathable and reliably waterproof high-tech membrane. For better wear comfort and reduced risk of secondary fragments, there are no pockets or zipper pulls in the torso area.

In order to avoid the formation of so called “thermal bridges“ between your skin and the outside air, the Monsoon Rain Shirt has built-in air/pac inserts in the shoulder area. These 8mm thick mesh inserts give you the necessary insulation between your skin and the outside temperature and thus prevent cold air to transfer from the outside to your skin. Due to their 3D foam structure, the air/pac inserts also distribute the weight of plate carriers or rucksacks.

For unhindered vision and uncompromised hearing, the jacket has a special integrated hood system called the Hood/Harness. The harness comfortably connects your head to the hood and follows your head movements, allowing you unhindered vision in extreme weather conditions. And since there is no strapping needed, the space between your head and the laminate is kept clear for air circulation and doesn’t limit your hearing.
